Wesley Eric Weston, Jr. (born in Houston, Texas), better known by his stage name Lil' Flip, is an American rapper known for being the first Texas rap artist to become mainstream and nationally known. Lil' Flip is also a member of the Screwed Up Click.
He was featured in Pepsi's Yahoo! "Houston Mic Pass" with Chamillionaire, Trae, Chingo Bling, Bun B, and H.A.W.K. [2] In 2006 he featured on Playalitical's Code Green album on the single "Its Been One".
Music career
The Leprechaun
The Leprechaun is the first album released independently from Houston rapper Lil' Flip. The album quickly gained national attention and spawned the hit single "I Can Do That". The album sold over 200,000 copies regionally and gained attention from Def Jam South, A & R, and well-known Houston rapper Scarface. The Source judged this album one of the most popular independent releases to date. Fellow rapper T.I. criticised Lil Flip for wearing a Leprechaun outfit during their high-profile feud.
Undaground Legend
Undaground Legend is a second album by rapper Lil' Flip, his first nationally released album, which included the hit single "The Way We Ball" and a remix to his hit "I Can Do That". It was certified Platinum even though it did not get much promotion from Loud Records. In the hip-hop documentary Beef 3, during the segment focusing on Lil' Flip's beef with rapper T.I., Flip claims that T.I. copied the title of his album Urban Legend from this album.
U Gotta Feel Me
U Gotta Feel Me is Lil' Flip's third album is on Sony Records. This album was more commercial and featured Ludacris, Three 6 Mafia, and others. The album debuted at Number #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and Number #3 on the Hip-Hop/R & B charts. It quickly became a crossover success with the Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 single "Game Over". The single used the Namco Pac-Man beat and the video showed Lil' Flip getting a tattoo while rapping to the single. The single reached Number #8 on the hip-hop charts and became an instant success for Lil' Flip. His follow-up single, the lover's anthem "Sunshine" featuring newcomer Lea, it became the second single on Lil' Flip's album and went to Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It gained numerous requests on MTV and BET. The album was later Chopped & Screwed by Paul Wall. The album sold over 2 million copies in the U.S.
This was the last album Lil Flip released on Sony Records.
I Need Mine
I Need Mine is the 4th full-length studio album by Houston rapper Lil' Flip. It was released on March 27, 2007.
The album was leaked on July 14, 2006 by Columbia Records, causing Flip to decide to record new songs with J. Steve from PKY for the album. The official released album had sixteen tracks that were on the leaked version and twenty-one which were not on the leaked version. The only song that did not make it to the re-release is "Da Gudda". "What U Know" was retitled as "Da Souf".
The album features appearances from Mike Jones, Lyfe Jennings, Big Pokey, Lil' Keke, Nate Dogg, and Mannie Fresh, among others.
Following its release, I Need Mine debuted at number 6 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 209,000 copies in its first week.citation needed
Ahead of My Time
Ahead of My Time is set to be the 5th studio album by Lil' Flip it is also set to be released in December. He told MTV "I'mma go back to the old Flip,' doing a whole bunch of music with a bunch of independent cats. I feel a lot of people underrate me."[1]
The first single is called 'Deep in the South.' It samples Jay-Z. It looks like that's the only way I'mma get a song with [him]." He told MTV.
He also told MTV "I got 30 mixtapes coming out. They all got the title 'King': King of Texas, I'm The King of Houston. It's just gonna be a whole bunch of 'Kings."

Flip runs his own record label, Clover G Records. Besides Flip, artists signed to the label include C-Note , D-Red , Da Black Al Capone, BG Duke, Wil-lean the Chemist, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Still Dirty, Tha Essay Potna and Sqad Up (formerly on Young Money Entertainment).Recently , he signed a group from Rockford, Illinois named DreamTeam.

Flip has his own golden liquor brand, Lucky Nites, which is a blend of pineapple juice, amaretto, and premium vodka.[2]

Flip also has his own Youtube channel named CloverG TV [3], which shows him performing, freestyling, and even making records. He is also working on a reality show called The American Rapper, where he will train several rappers, and will teach them not only how to rap, but also how to carry themselves across in public media. The winner will receive a two-album deal with Clover G Records, a Clover G chain, and a cash prize.[3]
Arrest
Lil' Flip was arrested in his hometown on July 21, 2007 in connection with a credit card scam. According to the Houston Chronicle, the rapper is accused of purchasing a $671.00 Southwest Airlines ticket from Houston to Baltimore on June 8 over the phone about an hour before the flight was scheduled to take off. The ticket was purchased with the credit card of a man named Jordan Salinger, who informed authorities that he did not authorize the purchase. <However, after an investigation proved that a South Carolina man (who Flip thought was part of a legitimate travel agency) purchased the ticket, a grand jury decided not to press any charges against him.[4]
