Background

Luner was born on Wednesday, May 12, 1971 to Stuart and Susan Luner in Palo Alto, California. Luner attended Beverly Hills High School, and graduated in 1989. As a child actor and model Luner made many appearances in television commercials and, at fifteen, won first place in the category of monologues in the LA Shakespeare Festival.citation needed

Television career

After guest starring in several episodes of the sitcom Growing Pains, Luner went on to star as Cindy Lubbock in a spinoff, Just the Ten of Us (1988-1990). Luner was nominated for a 1989 Young Artist Award for her performance.

When the series was cancelled in 1990, Luner retired from acting, reportedly to become a chef, attending the Epicurean Cooking School in Los Angeles, and then working as a chef in a French restaurant.citation needed

1990 - 2000

Luner returned to television in 1993 in the TV movie, Why My Daughter?, starring opposite Linda Gray. Luner followed this up with a succession of TV movies, most notably Confessions of a Sorority Girl (1994), which began her extended professional association with producer Aaron Spelling.

Luner's next big break came in 1996, when she was cast as scheming vixen Peyton Richards in Spelling's prime-time soap opera, Savannah (1996-1997). Initially, Luner auditioned for the role of Lane, and was only allowed to audition for the role of Peyton after producers had seen numerous other actresses.citation needed After the cancellation of Savannah in 1997, Luner reportedly bought a trailer and travelled around the United States.citation needed

Lumer appeared with former President Jimmy Carter and actor William Hurt on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on December 17, 1996, and on Entertainment Tonight on Monday, July 28, 1997. In late August, 1998, she appeared on The Howie Mandel Show with Michael J. Fox

Later in 1997, Luner was cast in Spelling's Melrose Place, playing the role of scheming Lexi Sterling until the show's conclusion in 1999. Luner was reportedly given the nickname "Turbo" by fellow cast members, because of the copious amounts of coffee she would consume on the set.citation needed

In 1999, immediately following the cancellation of Melrose Place, Luner was cast as Rachel Burke, Ally Walker's replacement in NBC's Profiler. She played the role until the show was cancelled at the end of its fourth season in 2000.

2000 - 2005

Following the cancellation of Profiler, Luner continued to work steadily, with guest appearances on several television shows including The Outer Limits, CSI: Miami and a three-episode arc on That's Life. In 2000, Luner also starred in the TV movie Sacrifice along with Michael Madsen.

In 2003, Luner joined the cast of another Spelling drama, playing the role of Senior Deputy Ryan Layne in 10-8: Officers on Duty (2003-2004). The series was cancelled after Luner had appeared in just five episodes. Also in 2003, Luner starred opposite Nicholas Lea in the SCI FI Channel original movie Threshold, and in 2004 guest-starred in an episode of NCIS.

2005 - present

In 2005, Luner was briefly under contract with Lifetime Television, appearing in four TV movies for the cable network: The Suspect (2005), Blind Injustice (2005), Stranger in my Bed (2005) and The Perfect Marriage (2006).

In 2007, Luner made a rare theatrical appearance, as Susan in the comedy Black and Bluestein at The Santa Monica Playhouse. Also that year, Luner starred in Nuclear Hurricane, a Sci Fi Channel original movie, and made a guest appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

In 2008, Luner starred in a new TV movie called Heat Wave which premieres next year.

In 2009, Luner co-stars with Nels Lennarson in a new TV Movie called Trust which just wrapped up shooting in the Vancouver area September 2008 and is now is post-production.
