Gloria Velez also known as "Glo", is an American model.

She is cited in "The Game's" song "Wouldn't Get Far" as being a hip hop model that many aspiring models aim to be similar to. [2] Most of Gloria Velez's music video appearances were those of multi-million dollar artists such as Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Dmx, and Dru Hill. Velez is most known for being the hip hop video model that used a short career to create more careers. The nationally published and well-respected Vibe Magazine presents Velez as one of the hardest working women in the music video industry. [3]Playboy honored Velez by distributing "Queen of Clubs" which consists of Velez hosting a strip club competition. [4] In addition, Gloria Velez is XXL magazine's very first "Eye Candy Of the Year" model[5].

Velez began her career as a back up dancer for the legendary hip hop artist known as "Uncle Luke". [6] It is disputed that Velez began her hip hop vixen career at the mere age of 15. [7] She traveled on tours, where she met Aaron Hall of the classic R&B group "Guy". VH-1 claims that Velez shares a son, Aaron Hall Jr. with Aaron Hall. [8]. At one point, Velez had "Aaron's" tattooed on her belly slightly above her private area. Now, the tattoo is covered with a pacifer. On a now defunct website, www.gloriavelez.com, Velez alleged physical abuse at the hands of Aaron Hall. Velez was motivated by the experience to depend on herself through modeling. To date, she has appeared in the magazines SMOOTH, XXL, Low Rider, Latina, XPOZ, Candy, Black Men, and more..[9]

Life

Gloria Velez knew what she wanted to be since she was a young girl, and, during her teenage years, she attended the John Casablancas modeling school, which led her to being signed by the Elite Modeling Agency.[10] Casablancas' school had a contract of exclusivity with Elite Models at the time, and Gloria Velez joined other models, such as Cindy Crawford, as a member of Elite.

Rap career

Velez was discovered, and signed by Tyrone Fyffe. That record deal was short lived and Velez elected to accept a more promising record deal with Rodney Jerkin's of Dark Child Entertainment. Jerkins is responsible for the early success of the recording artist, Brandy. Due to problems among Fyffe and Jenkins, Gloria decided to leave them both and independently released her first CD, "Glory". "Glory" was proceeded by Gloria Velez's first promotional tour.[11]
